Day 4 - Hunter Mountain

Out 9:15 to 1:15 with lunch in the lodge; mostly sunny with a temps rising toward freezing and a little breeze; 15 runs; 23,433 vertical; skied the Volkl Mantras; excellent man made snow - cohesive but soft; very few people especially after lunch.

Day 6 - Greek Peak

Out 9:45 to 1:45 with lunch in the bar; clear, relatively cold and still; 19 runs; 14,855 vertical; skied the Volkl Mantra M5's; some good grooming on Karyatis, Meadows and the top ½ of Oddesey; good snowmaking progress; hit a wet gun on the very bottom of Odyssey and took a hard fall - hard enough that my new phone called 911 - seriously.

Day 63 - Copper

Out 9:00 to 1:45 with a warm up break in the car to change skis; clear, cold and calm, -10° in the parking lot this morning, 2° when I left; 21 runs; 26,785 vertical; skied the 2019 Head i.Speed GS Cheater 17's and the Volkl M5 Mantras; groomers, bumps and steeps; big crowd, had to circle Excelerator waiting for the line at the Storm King T-Bar to dissapate; did Cabin Chute and Resolution Bowl-Sawtooth both with only one stop; on my way back to Three Bears skier's left on Lillie G was basically a noon groomer; did Denverite on Tucker.

Day 62 - Keystone

Out 8:30 to 2:00 with warmup and lunch breaks in the car; clear and very cold with no wind, -17° in the parking lot this morning and 9° when I left; skied the 2015 Volkl RaceTiger SL World Cups and the Volkl M5 Mantras; 17 runs, 27,964 vertical; nobody else was out; groomers, bumps and trees; finally made it to The Outback and did The Grizz, Pika Glades and Timberwolf; did Geronimo, Bullet and a couple down Starfire on North Peak too; the flatter stuff on The Outback had much better snow - Timberwolf was fantastic; Life Flight helicopter landing.

Day 32 - Copper

Out 9:00 to 3:00 with lunch at JJ's; 4" overnight, snow and blowing snow today with temps in the teens and strong winds - several different wind holds today; 14 runs; 26,314 vertical; skied the Volkl Mantra M5's; powder and packed powder; given the snow, not very many people at all; first shot down Andy's to Ore Deal on 4" of untracked snow on top of last night's grooming - sweet; plenty of bumps this morning too - Collage and two untracked on Hallelujah; Team Summit Masters Freeski this afternoon - worked on maximum forward bend in the ankle at the top of the turn, think lightning bolt body position; I enjoyed skiing with Matt and Isadora.

Day 54 - Montage

out 9:00 to 2:00, no break; sunny and warm with a high overcast by the afternoon; 34 runs; 23,624 vertical; skied the Volkl Mantras; groomers; parking lot was crowded, but with Long Haul running there was never even a hint of a line; Smoke was very, very good; skied okay.

Day 41 - Montage

Out 8:45 to 2:30 with a ¾ hour lunch break in the car; more snow with temps in the twenties - 3" total, 2" fell this morning after opening; 27 runs; 18,938 vertical; skied the Volkl Mantras; new snow on soft groomers - very nice; not many people out; skied untracked snow all morning; skied the afternoon with Ana searching the side of the runs on the upper mountain looking for freshies; skied okay. #justgivemeagroomer

Day 35 - Montage

Beautiful day, terrible skiing. Out 9:00 to 12:00; clear and coldish, no wind - temps in the teens; 14 runs, 8,630 vertical; skied the Volkl Mantras and the Atomic Redster D2 3.0 Race GS's; excellent conditions - soft groomers and leftover snowmaking; good crowd, but with all the lifts open the only real line was on Iron Horse during NASTAR; leftover snowmaking on Lightning was still marvelous; skied horribly at NASTAR - 21.47 hcp (Gold); okay after looking at the results it wasn't as bad as I thought, only Nicolae Soare and Steve Rheault beat me - I can live with that; today's picture shows the top of Smoke at noon on my way out, still very nice. #justgivemeagroomer

Day 31 - Montage

Out 9:30 to 2:00 with a looong lunch in the car when the Phoebe Snow lift broke down; clear and cold with virtually no wind - temps in the teens all day; 19 runs; 12,448 vertical; skied the Volkl Mantras; groomers with fresh snowmaking on White Lightning; very few people; skied okay; the snowmaking on Lightning was very tasty, unfortunately the Phoebe lift broke down so I only got 10 runs or so; waited in the car till the Long Haul lift came on line then went back out for a few to finish the day; today's pictures are of some of the big piles on the middle section of Fast Track.

Day 4 - Killington

30k in the rain - again. Out 9:00 to 2:30 with 45 minutes in the Ski Club Building for lunch; overcast and 40° in the parking lot - rain started by 11:00 - the wind really picked up by 1:00; skied the Volkl Mantras; 26 runs; 30,756 vertical; deep granular that actually got better as the rain soaked in; all the locals out early before the rain - nearly empty by noon; they closed the mountain at 2:30 - just as well, I was soaked and ready to quit; skiing well; stuck mostly to the Bubble, except to ride the Box once to ski Upper Downdraft and Lower East Fall.

Day 61 - Killington

Out 9:00 to 3:45 with coffee at the Ski Club and lunch in the Peak Lodge; 2" overnight ended as 2" more this morning - when the snow stopped so did the wind and it got extremely foggy; 30 runs; 36,443 vertical; skied the Volkl Mantras; fresh snow on groomers - very nice; not too many people given the snow - never a lift line; Skyeburst first thing was fun; skied the hill a little differently today, I covered all the trails on Bear and on Snowdon rather than lapping just my favorites.

Day 50 - Killington

Out 8:30 to 12:00 with no break; 3" of snow and mixed precip overnight - temps right around freezing with on and off snow all morning; 14 runs; 12,280 vertical; skied the Volkl Mantras; good crowd, but never any liftline; Radvanyi and Yatsko skinned up Bear Cub to South Ridge before first chair - I joined them when the lifts finally did open and we rode all the non-scanned lifts at the top of the mountain; had another fall today - dove head-first over a mogul on Pipedream when I checked up to miss a huge bare spot and high-sided; very nice conditions today - the mixed nature of last night's snow made it stick to the existing snowpack really well; Escapade first thing was very nice; Downdraft wasn't bad either; skied horribly this weekend - I'm blaming it on lack of rest.

Day 43 - Killington

Dave and Mel Day 2. Out 8:00 to 4:00, albeit with a 4+hour lunch break at the condo; 4" of new snow overnight - clear, cold and windy today with temps in the single digits all day; 21 runs; 15,094 vertical; skied the Volkl Mantras; some real nice snow in the morning, but pretty skied out when Dave and I went back out at the end of the day; tons of people;

Day 29 - Killington

Out 9:15 to 3:00 with coffee at the Ski Club and lunch in the Peak Lodge; cold, dark and blustery today after 2" overnight - flurries all day - temps in the low-twenties, but the wind made it feel much colder; 25 runs; 29,862 vertical; skied the Volkl Mantras; groomers mostly; big crowd today - maybe everybody was getting this week's skiing in before it turns much colder tonight; High Road was very nice - did 4; didn't ski particularly well today, but then again I didn't put much effort into it either.

Day 28 - Killington

Out 11:30 to 4:00 with lunch in the Peak Lodge; snowing with temps steady around 20° and an increasing east wind - 4" of new snow by 4:00 PM; 22 runs; 26,800 vertical; skied the Volkl Mantras; new snow on firm groomers; good crowd, but never a lift line; nice day; out late after spending this AM in Rutland at the garage; 62.5% ahead of last year's vertical total on this date.

Day 27 - Killington

Out 9:15 to 2:00 with a long coffee break in the Ski Club building; clear and cold with temps never much above 10° and quite a bit of wind up high; 22 runs; 25,235 vertical; skied the Volkl Mantras; firm groomers with chunks; today's snowmaking mostly directed at resurfacing on things like Chute, Bunny, Highline and East Fall; did most parts of the mountain that were open, including my first runs of the year on Needle's Eye; tore up the skis pretty badly today cutting too close to walkway at the corner of KBL.

Day 19 - Killington

Out 9:00 to 3:00 with lunch in the Peak Lodge; 2" overnight and snowing all morning - 4" total; this morning's snow gave way to a windy and cold afternoon as the temps dropped to 12° at the Peak by 2:30; 26 runs; 31,357 vertical; skied the Volkl Mantras; pow and packed pow all day; the Mantras skied very well again today; fell for the first time this season - I had sweat into my googles and couldn't see a god damn thing when I slipped on the icy bumps on the very top of Cascade Headwall; freshies on Header again this AM; freshies on Upper Chute too when they opened the Snowdon 6 late again and I was lucky enough to be like the fifth or sixth person up the lift when it opened; skied Conclusion for the first time this season too - dinged my skis a little in the process.

Day 17 - Killington

Out 9:00 to 2:15 with a coffee break in the Peak Lodge; another 4" overnight; clear with temps in the teens to start; NW wind really picked up as the day wore on; 23 runs; 25,853 vertical; skied the Volkl Mantras; powder, packed powder, and soft groomers; other than the PSIA Pro Jam groups, not many folks on the hill; the Mantras skied very well today; freshies on Header this morning; left of the rope on Upper Bunny was pretty good too - pictures below.
