Well that didn't work as planned - no snow in the forecast when I scheduled Monarch/Crested Butte, then I woke up having to drive thru 4" of suprise snow overnight at home only to find Monarch without any new snow and basically on wind hold; only out for the first hour; sunny and very windy today with temps around freezing; 4 runs; 3,223 vertical; skied the Nordica Enforcer 88's; groomers; pretty big crowd; wind hold on all but one lift - left when the line got huge; more snow and better cover here on the ground than anywhere I've been so far this season.

Only out 9:00 to 11:30 with a couple of breaks to warm up and deal with boot issues; 2" new snow overnight - mostly sunny with single digit temps and a little wind; 8 runs; 7,562 vertical; skied the K2 Mindbender 108 Ti's; wind blown snow on grooming up top and fairly firm groomer down low; very few people; lower left leg extremely sore in and around the boot cuff - after stopping for the second time to deal with it I just quit; thinking the cold weather stiffened my boots significantly contributing to today's sore shin; too cold for pictures and that's a damn shame because it certainly was a spectacular view up there with snow blowning over the peaks.

Out 9:00 to 2:00 with lunch at the top; clear and warm again with little to no wind; 17 runs; 30,448 vertical; skied the Nordica Enforcer 88's; conditions were pretty good, but there are a couple of really chewed up spots; not much of a crowd; skiing pretty well; physically everything feels pretty good except my right foot - boot issues; the walk in and out to the Gondi here sucks horribly.

On the hill 9:00 to 1:15 with a break for lunch; high, thick overcast with warm temps and very little wind - 64° in the parking lot when I left; 14 runs; 24,744 vertical; skied the Nordica Enforcer 88's; snow was good up top - dry, soft and carvable - but did get a little sticky and wet below the Montezuma Chair; some people but not really crowded at all; first time on these skis since I ran over them in the parking lot at Greek Peak the year before last - I forgot just how great they are; I need to remember to save a lit bit for the looooooong walk back to the parking lot here; no pictures worthy of posting yet.

I let the Sunday crowd 'thin' before starting at 2:00; skied right to last chair without a break; 60° and sunny with very little wind; skied the Volkl Kendos; 9 runs; 15,633 vertical; firm snow with some small bumps; lots of people on the hill till very near closing; sun screen, sweat pants and spring gloves; blackout lens made the last two runs pretty dark; started slow, but cranked it up by run four.
73° and sunny; goggles, helmet, t-shirt, sweat pants and plenty of sunscreen.

Another really nice day; cold with several heavy snow squalls, but not too windy; very few people for a major skiing holiday; my GS skis made all today's groomers feel like soft pack; skied all the snowmaking trails today except Alpha, Karyatis and Meadows.

Good day on the hill; big crowd by mid-day but Chair 4 and an early lunch in the bar allowed me to miss most of the pain; Alchmene was suprisingly good; Hercules was open for the first time this year too.

The similarities between Blue and Bristol are considerable; my GS skis were the perfect choice today; even the steep groomers didn't really get too scraped off despite a fairly large crowd; skied for more than 4 hours.

Flurries with a quick, heavy snow squall and temps right at 30°; Chair 1 today - snowmaking and grooming underway on Alchmene under the main chair; plenty of people but no lift lines; Odyssey and Zeus both ungroomed but skiable with the appropriate attitude; Odyssey was in perfect racing condition - firm and ripply; legs are tired after skiing on hard snow all day.

A little snow overnight and this morning helped things alot; very windy; first day this season on GS skis - it took a little while but I finally got comfortable with them; any ungroomed, new snow was extremely sticky - had to conserve speed to even make it down Castor this morning; Illiad was good.

Yesterday it was skiing in the rain, today it was skiing till it rains; out for about 2½ hours; with the warm temps overnight they limited grooming so it took a little time to ski all the skitchy snow into something skiable - Iliad was just starting to get good when it started to rain; stockpiling the whales on Christy's till after the rain.

Another very nice day - excellent weather, excellent conditions; there were a lot of people out, but all the lifts ran so I was able to run and hide effectively; more great snowmaking - big whales on Christy's and Lower Zeus; skied okay; feeling okay.

Another cold morning; more fantastic conditions; my latest Head GS Cheaters are so much better on the groomers than the Bonafides or Kendos; feeling well enough that I'm thinking of stepping up to GS or SL skis.

Cold morning after yesterday's snow; stellar conditions again; good sized crowd, but never a lift line; 15 minute delay at opening; Chair 1 ran today, so plenty of Odyssey runs; didn't ski particularly well; poor choice of skis today; took a good 15 minutes before I could get my boots off at the end of the day.

Pretty good day on the hill; full overcast with very little wind and temps in the twenties; pretty big crowd but never really much of lift line; skied with Radvanyi and Yatsko; plenty of new choices since the last time I was here - White Cloud, Eisenhower and Outlook stood out; the hip was a little wonky on the drive in, but I skied fine and it feels okay as I sit here writing this after driving home; had to drive home directly into the oncoming snow; first time parking at Hunter North - I like this alot - it cuts about 4 minutes off the trip; first +20,000' vert day of the season.

Very nice day on the hill after some more rain; a little scratchy to start, but everything (Odyssey, Trojan and Fields) softened beautifully; nobody else out - and I mean nobody; stayed long enough to do 20 runs.

First back-to-back days this season; lots of open terrain compared to everywhere else I've skied so far this year; last night's cold firmed up yesterday's rain soaked snow dramatically; not unexpectedly they groomed up quite a few chunks; had to ski slow today - my legs were tired; pretty big crowd; arrived early and got absolutely the best parking spot in Mt. Snow history; I can really feel the firm snow in my hip - nothing to worry about, just part of the recovery process (I hope).

Out for a couple of hours on my way to Peak Performance to get my Christmas gift (new Nordica Doberman 5 S boots) custom fit; conditions weren't too bad considering all the rain - their existing snowpack soaked up almost all of it and the inital post-rain groom didn't produce too many chuncks; given my short window to ski today I stuck to the main mountain and only got to ski Upper World Cup/Chute/Lower Chief and Upper Jolly Green Giant/Arrow; I'm skiing okay, but my hip is still very weak.

Got an excellent morning in before the rain; 2 days of warm temps made everything super soft and carvable; stayed till I got wet - ended up leaving right at noon; legs were pretty tired walking to the car after 11 trips up The Flyer and a couple more up the new Broadway Chair (B Chair) but I feel pretty good sitting at home as I write this.

Nice morning on the hill; first time this year I felt comfortable with my skiing - getting my boots figured out was a huge help; some more new snow and grooming overnight had the hill in tip top condition; Chair 1 ran basically all morning - so plenty of Odyssey laps - it was great; nice crowd, but no lift lines.

Really good start to Greek Peak's season - Karyatis, Fields and Odyssey all blown and groomed; Several others including Illiad and Olympian were open on natural snow only; I did Illiad once but too many rocks for a redo; skied the Blizzard Bonafides; a little breezy with temps in the upper teens and a few snow flurries; the man made on the open trails was firm like Odyssey and a tad bit chunky in spots like Stoic; pretty good crowd after say 11:00 AM but never more than a 1 or 2 minute liftline; excellent lunch at the bar - Fried Chicken sandwich with fries and a few Blue Moon's.

Pretty good start to the season considering it's been 9 months and a hip replacement revision surgery since I last skied. My hip is very weak but at least it didn't hurt. My feet and lower legs however, did hurt when I encountered any hard snow. Stopped a little earlier than I wanted to because my legs were spent - 8 before lunch and only 3 after.
